Doing the little things, and emergency visits

Happy Monday morning to both of us. I do not work on Mondays, currently, and only sometimes it’s hard for me to get up in the morning, if I’m less rested. However, today it was easy. And, besides, I love taking Cayden to school.

I love doing all of the little things for him these days.

So, Chick-Fil-A was closed for remodeling, but that’s the kind of morning it was today, too. We went straight to school after doing a drive-by at CFA, skipped breakfast, initially.

Anyway, the thing is this. Cayden woke up really complaining about his arm. His bicep hurt. Over the weekend, he attended a sleepover on Saturday. All the boys worked out, twice. Two days in a row, the same body part. Man, they trained that bicep good with bicep curls. I believed, almost immediately after talking to him and asking him a couple questions, that it was just sore, which is why I sent him to school in the first place. Only to get a little shamed when I was called from the school nearly right after dropping him off, my son had been in tears. My heart!

I picked him right up, insurance info in hand, and off we went. Found the place we went to last time, and there you have it. He is sore from working out. But it did give me an excuse to go sit down for breakfast and do it right. Yum. Fed my little man. Love talking to him over a meal. Asked him questions, like, what was his favorite color? Favorite teachers, least favorite teachers. For which he had three! Lol

We ate at Denny’s. The perfect little twist on our morning before sending my kid on back to school. He had a note from the doctor. I gave myself a little pat on my back, too. I know all too well what it feels like, the excruciating pain. My son has a thing or two to learn about working out and playing sports.

One last thing on that note is, I was just talking to someone about this the other day. They were telling me how there were going to be a lot of moments like these in the future and I better get used to it and just try to relax. I’d say I was pretty chill, though.

Next time, I’ll make sure not to run out of Pain Relief, which I should have given him some before we left to go to school in the first place.

update: is, I got invited to go eat w an old friend to celebrate my graduation. Met her at Whole Foods and we walked to Fogo de Chao. It was delicious. But I forgot that I said I’d pick him up a little early from school. He wanted to miss last period, Athletics, and so Mommy-fail! I think it was still a good day… as I wait here for Cayden to get off the bus soon. I am looking forward to celebrating him later! It’s Awards Night. S.
